ECC was the general partner of approximately 45 limited partnerships which owned and operated approximately 35 manufactured home and recreational vehicle communities in 13 states. As co-dissolution officers, Don Rothman and Arnold L. Kupetz operated the mobile home communities and devised an appropriate mechanism for their liquidation. The mobile home communities and other ECC assets were eventually sold for approximately $335 million.
At the request of Western Federal Savings & Loan Association, Irving Sulmeyer and Arnold Kupetz were appointed co-receivers to operate this hotel and 400,000 square-foot adjacent office building in downtown Los Angeles.
They enhanced the ultimate settlement between the lender and borrower by retaining the Hyatt Management Company to continue the hotel management, overseeing the management company's operations, and negotiating major leases to increase occupancy and cash flow.
As receiver for this large Palm Springs Hotel for approximately 18 months, Arnold Kupetz was responsible for the operation of the hotel, restaurant, bar and convention center. He arranged financing to revitalize the deteriorating Convention Center, the only one in the Palm Springs area, and extended the facility's recreational attraction by adding tennis courts. These improvements enabled the debtor to restructure its ownership interest and obtain new financing, which funded significant payments to creditors.
