Elissa Miller Named Interim Trustee in Girardi Keese Bankruptcy

The U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Central District of California appointed Partner & Trustee Elissa D. Miller as trustee of Girardi Keese a longtime well-respected Plaintiff’s law firm. Jason Rund with Sheridan & Rund PC was appointed as the Trustee of Tom Girardi’s individual bankruptcy Case. Girardi is accused of embezzling funds set aside for victims of the Boeing 737 MAX crash in Indonesia and the firm and Girardi each own creditors millions of dollars.

As reported by Law360, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Barry Russell ordered the interim trustees “to immediately enter onto the premises of the debtor and take possession of the books and records, accounts, and all aspects of the debtor.”

This came on the heels of Edelson PC, co-counsel in the Boeing litigation, discovering several clients had not received all of the settlement funds to which they were entitled. Girardi and his firm admitted in court that at least $2 million was missing from the clients’ trust accounts.  As a result, the Chicago judge froze Girardi’s assets and issued a judgment for the plaintiffs.
