About

Since 1952, our firm has helped a wide range of businesses through financial hardships, starting with founder Irving Sulmeyer’s first case representing Union Slide Fastener Company through its successful Chapter 11 reorganization. We are proud to be celebrating our 70th anniversary with a track record of serving as appointed trustees and bankruptcy counsel, as well as representing clients in complex corporate transactions and business litigation. Our lawyers were involved in introducing Chapter 13 wage earner adjustments to Southern California and in handling landmark cases in Chapter 9 municipal debt adjustment. Today, we continue to be at the forefront of the bankruptcy field, representing parties on all sides of bankruptcy and reorganization matters.

Our diverse expertise allows SulmeyerKupetz to guide clients through a host of related business issues, from restructurings and reorganizations to asset purchases and other business transactions and litigation. We have worked with organizations of all types, including public entities, nonprofits, and companies in all manner of industries, such as retail, hospitality, real estate, finance, manufacturing, healthcare, and technology. In the face of financial distress, we work with clients to utilize a variety of out-of-court solutions, including restructurings and assignments for the benefit of creditors, and are thoroughly prepared to represent businesses and all other constituencies in formal bankruptcies, including Chapter 11 reorganization and Chapter 7 liquidation cases.
