SulmeyerKupetz attorneys have extensive experience representing nonprofits in Chapter 11 proceedings, out-of-court restructurings, and related litigation. Our clients have included religious organizations, as well as secular charitable funds.
Our work on behalf of nonprofit entities has included the following representative matters:
- Assisted Hollywood for Children, DBA the Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund, in a wind-down of its financial affairs and mission through Chapter 11 after pre-bankruptcy litigation curtailed the nonprofit’s ability to utilize Ms. Hepburn’s image and likeness. Managed the marketing and liquidation of memorabilia spanning Ms. Hepburn’s life.
- Handled Chapter 11 reorganization for church amid dispute over governance, allowing issues to be litigated in state court without the risk that property would be dissipated in the meantime.
- Represented nonprofit publisher in restructuring debt to key creditors to maintain its operations.
